I have found Pikes Peak Community College.... but does COS have another? We are looking at a house in Mesa/Pleasant Valley area. Thanks!

Yeah - and what is Colorado College? Private? Community College? I can't quite tell. Anybody attend there? Do you like it? Thanks.

Colorado College is private 4-year liberal arts college. I didn't go there, so I have no personal experience with it. People I've talked to who went there seem to love it though.

Pikes Peak is the only game in town when it comes to 2-year community colleges; however, they have several campuses around the city.

You've got UCCS, CC and PPCC. For what it's worth, PPCC is a good place to start an education.

Oh and there's CTI, Regis and others too. but PPCC is a great place to start...

Cool! I will look up the PPCC campuses. How long do you need to be a resident? Any restriction or can you just pop in there with a utility bill?

Both kids will attend PPCC then one will go to UCCS. I can't find on thier site how long you have to be a resident for UCCS either. The help I am getting is fabulous!
Thanks guys.

The basics of it are:

Proof of lawful presence can be proven by supplying your college or university of choice with one of the following:
  • A valid Colorado driver's license or state ID card.
  • A United States Military card or military dependent's ID card
  • A United States Coast Guard merchant mariner card
  • A Native American tribal document
These links should be able to answer most other residency questions you might have:

We moved here the end of May and my son began his freshman year at UCCS a couple weeks ago. Basically, we(he) has to establish himself here for 1 year before he can apply for resident rate tuition. Non-resident tuition is ridiculous here so most classes this first year he is taking online at southeast community college in nebraska. Next year I guess we'll apply for resident tuition and see what happens.

UCCS Non-resident tuition...approx 750.00 a credit hour

Southeast CC in Nebraska tuition...approx 45.00 a credit hour.

I appreciate everyone's responses, but there's one point I don't follow: do you have to *establish* your residency for a year first, or can you you just *be* a resident (i.e.- you actually live here and can prove it) in order to get in-state tuition rates?

Sorry for being dense.

Thanks, but I am confused...
and what is worse, I sent the links (thanks FB) to my teenager and she wrote this to me:

That's to prove you are a citizen of the United States. Not just Colorado. And above that it only applies to Military. But, if the community college application is anything like the university application – if they see a Colorado address, they may not care. But the first link doesn’t quite count. Sorry.

I'm dying here thinking I missed it. She wants to start UCCS 9/09 and I may of missed it by a month.

Maybe I need to contact them. Thanks
