Hello! My fiance and I are going to be relocating to Colorado in a few months hopefully We are looking into either the Colorado Springs area or the Manitou Springs area. I was wondering the difference in living in those two places. We would like to live somewhere where we don't feel like we live right in the middle of a large city but stores are still relatively close. We are a christian couple in our twenties if that helps any. Thank you for your responses

Manitou is a touristy, new age, artsy place; full of eateries and with it's share of aging hippies and wiccans. No joke.

COLO SPGS is only a few miles east, much larger, and home to all sort of churches, of which one is bound to appeal to you.

Manitou Springs, for most intents and purposes, is practically part of the Springs. The Manitou Springs "vibe" is the same as most of the West side of central Colorado Springs.

You might like farther east, like the Falcon area. Typically conservative, we have churches of all denominations. New Life Church is about 4 miles down the road, LDS just broke ground on their chapel, and the new Grace Community Church building will be dedicated this Sunday. Plus this area is very community oriented. We have festivals and fun events. We also have most of the amenities folks want from "city life," like retail shops, grocery, Wal-Mart, but not the level of traffic congestion. Two four-lane roads take you to downtown Colorado Springs or the north side of the Springs in 20 minutes. That commute is about the same as thru town for most people. The Woodmen Hills development in Falcon is the largest and would have the most housing choices.
