Hi Folks,

I read here often, but seldom post.

I've been researching a move to the West for a couple of years now, and have pretty much settled on Manitou Springs. I love the eclectic personality of Manitou, and its conveniently close proximity to COS for work and shopping.

I am planning my move next summer, and will not pull the trigger on the move till I find employment in the COS area.

For those who live in COS or Manitou Springs, how has the recession impacted employment in the area? What sectors are hiring? (I have a sales/sales management background -- that should give me the flexibility to seek employment in sales across a variety of business sectors.)

Any other tidbits of information you want to share, especially about Manitou, would be greatly appreciated!

well seems like the call centers aren't having too many issues - some are progressive, usaa and tmobile. haven't heard crazy layoffs from them - can't really comment on manitou - was down there a few weeks ago and didn't appear many closed stores. just depends what you are looking for - i would sya recession hasn't been too bad here, but then again haven't had to worry about it..
oh stay away from t row price here - they laid off a ton not too long ago

There is a lot of commercial space empty in COS because they lost a lot of their high tech jobs. If you have a sales background, you should be fine. Good salespeople pay for themselves and are always in demand - Manitou is absolutely the cream of the crop as far as I am concerned. I couldn't afford to live there, but there are always interesting people around and if you like a "Main St" feel...that's your place. Enjoy!
