50, Single, Looking for a SAFE spot in CO. to settle-Any suggestions? (Colorado Springs: to rent, neighborhood)

I've visted Colorado Springs in the late 80's, absolutely loved it and want to return for good. I'm sure there have been many changes since then, so any advice on if it's still a good place to go, or where else in CO. I can find a safe, comfortable place to settle down in. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks

JC 50, while you're answering Mike's questions, maybe you can also tell us what it was that you "absolutely loved" about CO Springs and the state when you visited in the '80s? Weather? Shopping? Mountains? Restaurants? Culture? That can give us a good place to start, too. Can you also say a bit more about what "safe and comfortable" means to you? Odd as it may seem, people's definitions of those qualities can be all over the map. Help us help you...

Hi there, thanks for the reply. When I visited I loved how laid back and friendly the people were, along with the beautiful weather, mountains and fresh air. I was traveling alone and felt very welcome "anywhere" I went. (I spent a few weeks staying in each of the bigger cities, COS being my favorite). I parked my car, left it unlocked and had no question in my mind that it would still be there when I returned. I was wondering if that's still the case nowadays or am I hoping for something long-gone.

I'm more of a quiet person, like to socialize but not "party hardy" so having someplace to occasionally go have a drink and good conversation would be great, I like living a peaceful existence, meaning not so much noise (I've lived in NY, FUN, "but oh my goodness talk about noise") and living in a "clean and safe" neighborhood means alot. I'm not rich, but I can afford to rent something decent untill I know where I want to stay permanently. I hope this answers some questions and I truly do appreciate your help.

I lived in Manitou Spgs & found it very clean, quiet & safe. Great location too since I could hike up Pike's peak from my house, yet close enough to access CoSpgs.
