Hi we have a son living in Pueblo West and are thinking about settleling down near there. We are in our 70s and live on SS, so our budget for housing is not very big and having no house to sell for a downpayment creates a problem. I have several medical problems ,and the only workout i get is walking or swimming,so a place with a pool would be nice.Or near a place were i can use a pool. Because my husband is having surgery,we will be in Co. for most of winter,so we would like to know were or to whom we should go in the area for information. We thank you for any information you can offer.

Pueblo has a lot of apartments for seniors in highrises located in downtown. The rent is based on your income and they are very nice. In fact one of the complexes is right next to the Riverwalk and the others are by Mineral Palace Park. I would highly suggest it. There is a nice regional hospital by the park called Parkview Medical Center that is a top hospital in the state as well.

You might also check out the YMCA in Pueblo regarding indoor pools, exercise rooms, etc.. It's a little west of Interstate 25, just off U.S. hwy. 50 on east Spaulding avenue.

This might be a good place to start for information on senior living in Pueblo:

The mission of SRDA is to provide programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for the senior community of Pueblo and increase opportunities for independent living. Through its inclusive structure, symbolized by SRDA’s umbrella logo, the agency ensures that Pueblo area senior citizens and other frail and handicapped persons maintain as healthy, self-reliant, and independent lifestyles as possible.

In 1994, thanks to a combination of public and private funding, the Joseph H. Edwards Senior Center was built in downtown Pueblo at 230 North Union Avenue. Our impressive facility, located near the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Project, City Hall, Historic Union Avenue District, and senior apartment complexes, houses the SRDA offices and our many comprehensive programs.
