Not true.

People can hike or mountain bike or run for free almost anywhere. Entrance fees for state parks are minimal.

True that downhill skiing is expensive, but there are places where people can cross country ski for free.

Many, many places where people can four-wheel drive for free.

Many, many places where people can kayak for free.

Many, many, many places to enjoy the beautiful scenery from your car for free. You just need to get up off your couch!

You must have other things going on in your financial world.

Not really. I have medical bills, but no car payment. I am making 41,000 a year and can't afford a thing in this city. If you live by the rule of not spending more than 1/3 or after tax income on rent (the best rule to follow) you need to be pulling at least 50,000 a year to get into the lowest rental market.

And is that 4-wheeler free? Is that Kayak free? Outside of some hiking trails all of those activities are too expensive for the average person to enjoy a outside of an occasional outing.

At 41k and using your rule, you could afford any of these apartments. This is only one rental company. I don't know what problems you have encountered or how you were "scammed" into moving to Denver but there are housing options. Even ones with bathrooms.

Sillyness. Most "average" people in most cities don't kayak or go 4-wheeling as money is dear to most of us, so a lot of us RENT the more costly things. That Denver/Boulder has all these folks who kayak, etc, is prima facie that Denver is nearing or has achieved a critical mass of exceptionalism. I'm disappointed that a person with a good education cannot recognize and ENJOY the richness of this environment.

Here's an article from a respected source pointing out that tons of college grads do recognize the value proposition that Denver offers and are coming here in droves. Denver is the top place for college grads to live, population of the young and educated is up 47% since 2000, nearly double the percentage increase in the New York metro area.

Your sourpuss attitude towards a great city makes you fitting to live in dour old puritanical Colorado Springs.

Yeah, and your car isn't free either I was going to add in my previous post that even if you go to the mountains, you have to pay for the gas to get there, so that isn't free either. But I thought that was being silly.

I guess from your sour, unhappy perspective, you couldn't figure out how to do any of the "free" things we've been talking about. But don't be spreading non-truths on this forum!

That is one, just one apartment. lol. And while it isn't as far away as most of the places I come across it isn't on my preferred side of town. I work in Golden. Living at that location would put me in serious traffic in the morning.

I have had hunters searching for me since I arrived. All of them tell me to up my limit to 900 a month. I tell them I will ONLY consider that price if utilities are included. And even then it is so much higher that was I want to pay. I prefer for $750 that includes everything. Denver is the only city I have lived in where this is difficult to find.
