Coal Rolling Now Illegal in Colorado (organic, living, dangerous)

I didn't know it was a thing. Recently, I saw this in Boise and my thoughts were either the truck needs a tune up or the driver is a dumb**s. Intentionally wasting fuel or creating pollution should be a traffic citation.

I actually experienced this while vacationing this last week. I was close to Colorado Springs and heading to Pike's Peak when some douche kept doing this to pedestrians and motorcycles. It also creates an annoyance for the rest of the drivers. I never knew it was intentional though.

It's pretty obvious when you see it. I'd see it all the time when I lived in Laramie, it was mostly people who went to WyoTech from out of state. Now it's spread everywhere as used diesel trucks become more financially accessible. It's pretty easy to tell an old engine smoking apart from someone rolling coal. For one it's usually aimed at people or a specific car or motorcycle, a truck will stand in one spot and just blow smoke at someone, or they pull away fast leaving a smokescreen behind. The trucks that do this are usually lifted and modified in some way, and covered in decals.

I'm surprised this just now became a law, considering how much of it I'd see when I was living in southern Wyoming, and when I'd drive down to Colorado. The drivers doing it usually drive very aggressively, tailgate, and weave through traffic in their giant trucks on top of rolling coal. They're like the kids driving fast and furious type cars of the late 90s and early 00s, except now it seems giant lifted diesel trucks are the 'in' vehicle.
