They've released a limited-edition 14-year bourbon called Tincup Fourteener. They're giving the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) a $14,000 donation, and are planning to participate in CFI's "Adopt a Peak" program.

The suggested retail price for a fifth is $70. I'm a bit of a cheapskate. I try to keep my purchases around $40 max, but I may buy a bottle of this as an investment if I come across one. If it goes up after a year or two, I'll sell it; if not, I'll drink it.

FWIW, it's always bothered me that they call their products "mountain whiskey." Yeah, the company is owned by Jess Graber, formerly of Stranahan's, but it's distilled in pancake-flat Indiana by mega-distiller MGP, and then cut with Colorado water. That's cheating.

The craft spirit market has exploded in Colorado with some real gems - made 100% in Colorado.
I don’t know if they are still around, but Gold Hill Distillery west of Boulder made some spectacular gin, the best I have ever had. Peach Street in Palisade makes three different Agaves and a clean, inexpensive Vodka. Law in Denver is good. Marble Distilling in Carbondale. Storm King in Montrose makes some good stuff. Ski Town in Steamboat is fun. There’s a unique one on the north side of Grand Junction called Highlands. The serve you inside a yurt or teepees. There’s an interesting one in Ouray KJ Wood, but they are never open every time we stop by.

Agreed. There's a very robust spirits community in Colorado. You've given me some more to check out.

There was a distillery in Cedaredge that made corn whiskey. It was hooch, but I enjoyed it. Haven't seen it in the store recently so they may have gone out of business.

I've seen a couple different distilleries that make "rum" from sugar beets. One was Rado in Arvada. I think they may have gone out of business, too. The other one is in Windsor. I haven't tried their product. They can't legally call it rum because it's not from sugarcane.

I've had Fireside Bourbon, Fireside Peach, and Fireside Premixed Old Fashioned whiskey from Mile High Spirits. All three are good for the price point.

Vapor Distilling has a solid bourbon (Boulder Bourbon).

Breck's Rum Cask Finished Bourbon is my favorite Colorado bourbon, but it's gotten pricy.

I've had the 291 American Whiskey from the Springs. I wanna try the Bourbon, but their stuff is expensive.

Mystic Mountain Distillery in Larkspur makes a cinnamon whiskey called Outlaw Red. I actually like it more than Fireball.

Western Medicine's Boulder Creek Bourbon is very good, too.

The only Colorado product I didn't really enjoy was Downslope Distilling's Double Diamond.

I really want to try Deerhammer's Bourbon and their pot stilled rye.
