Driving to Denver from Florida, best route? (Lamar, Limon: live, distance)

I've checked out google maps and mapquest, and both give similar routes, but having never driven to Denver, I am not sure the best route to take. the distance is relatively the same, but I am not sure about road conditions or traffic in the given areas. Has anyone driven from Florida to Denver? I am looking for the shortest driving time, not necessarily the shortest distance. Are their any other routes that the websites dont list that are shorter? Thanks.

There are other ways to go, but that is the quickest, easiest way with the fewest problems.

It's doable! Even though U.S. 287 is not an interstate you can make good time there as you are rolling out of Amarillo. Both Texas and Oklahoma panhandles are quick drives as is Colorado coming north out of Campo and Springfield. You do have to jockey a little ways as you are coming into Lamar, then Eads. Then 287 joins in at Limon with I-70. The time difference is notable to me as you get to Kit Carson because then you are traveling diagonally.

Easy drive too! (stretch from Amarillo to Denver that is).

That's the way I did it a few times. A lot of people might be put off by the Ft. Worth to Raton, NM section because you do have the odd traffic light and roll through some towns, but it's fine by me. When I lived in SW OK thats the way we used to go anyways to get to Denver.

Another way I used to do which is out of the way for Pensacola is to go I-65 from Montgomery, AL to Nashville, I-24 to Paducah, KY, then I-55/57? and I-70 to St. Louis and then to Denver. Pretty simple that way with the only pain being St. Louis.

I've driven it a number of times and the US287 route is the BEST! It's 70mph - good road, but only one rest area.

I just moved here from Tampa and we took 75 through GA and then went into TN, Missouri, through Kansas and into CO. I may have missed a state, there are too many to keep track of! I've driven that way 3 times.

I'm making that drive, heading out Sunday, June 27. I'm thinking I'll go with the I10 to I49 to I20 to US287 to I25 route. Distance looks comparable to Lamar-Eads-Limon, but it looks a bit more scenic, might as well enjoy the drive.

I-10 is a very, very long boooooooring hwy!!

When you get into Texas you will see a punch in the face. It takes friggin 4-ever to get out of Texas., but once you get onto I25 things seem to get more interesting!

Simply drive 1-70 to St. Louis, then 1-64 to Mt Vernon, Ill., then 1-57 toward Paducah, then 1-24 to Chattanooga, then 1-75 straight shot to Florida.
