We are not in the same state so we dont have the "mine is bigger than yours" argument that may occur in Columbia/Greenville or Savannah/Augusta..I have to admit that both cities have some similarities in terms of being river towns, medical science influences, military, evolution from railroads... Interestingly enough.. both cities even have defacto "beltways" and intracity highway configurations, urban canals, historic neighborhoods downtown and have carved out unique existences with nearby behemoths (Charlotte and Atlanta) Of course differences are obvious in terms of Columbia being a univeristy town and the state capital... AUG if I am not mistaken has the unified government which appears to be working well...something that Columbia Richland could benefit from

Wow. That's a big difference.

We are flying international next week and the difference in the tickets between leaving CAE or Charlotte was less than $30 each.

I live in metro Atlanta, but I was just curious. I'm planning to go to DC for Inauguration/MLK weekend and wanted to see how CAE would stack up versus surrounding airports:

CAE to DCA (Reagan National): $199.60
CLT to DCA: $193.70
GSP to DCA: $175.10
CHS to DCA: $199.60
AGS to DCA: $199.60

CAE would be the obvious choice in this scenario.

Wow.. look like these fares are based on the metro areas where Obama did well.... The lower percentage of voters that voted for Obama the lower the fare..... The higher the percentage the higher the fare.. I guess the airlines are expecting large numbers of people to fly to Washington for the Inauguration from the areas that went for Obama.....so drive to an area that you know didnt go for Obama and get a good fare.....

Just a little humor guys.. have a good weekend....
