First there was the joke of Steve Benjamin, then Jake Knotts, now there is Alvin Greene! Is there no end to this madness? In case you don't know, Alvin Greene won the SC Democratic primary for Senate, but now it comes out this guy has a criminal past with porn charges against him! Yet another joke.
Clyburn is calling for a review to see how he won. I'll admit, it makes no sense. Unemployed, currently being charged with a felony, no advertising, no nothing, and beat an incumbent with experience and a good resume. It is very fishy to me and I cannot imagine how he won.

He won with something like 60% of the vote. Crazy. Are the machines rigged? I've seen this Alvin guy on TV......you can't even inderstand him.
I think it was a vote against the establishment. Rawl had name recognition and the public is in a kick 'em out mood. An overdue kick 'em out mood in my opinion.
Dick Hartpootlian was just interviewed on NPR about this, and at the end of the report the journalist asked him what's in the water down here with Sanford's soul mate thing, claims of Haley's infidelity, Jake Knotts's ******* comment, and now this. Dick Hartpootlian called South Carolina out on NPR, saying it would be funny if it weren't so serious and sad, and that South Carolina is 50th in education and 50th in about four other things, ending with 50th in quality of life, and saying that it will never change because its politicians will never change. OUCH!

But to kick out the establish player for an almost illiterate person? Maybe that is a stretch to call him illiterate, but from what I heard of Alvin Greene on TV, he doesn't seem like he has much past a 5th grade education.

So would you have known that before the election? The guy never went on tv and from what I read never made a public appearance. Rawl has been held office and has some name recognition. Maybe the electorate thought the dem party took them for granted and decided to send a message? Then again maybe someone stood outside all the precincts and told people to vote for the first name on the ballot like Jim Clyburn said.
I voted in the Republican primary to try to stir things up a little bit, and my eye and finger went straight to whoever DeMint's opponent was. I don't remember the name. I guess it was Green. Someone put him on there knowing that at least Richland County would vote for him the same way I did. He's not even a politician; he's just a sicko. But one assumes (never again on my part since I can skip down the ballot) that whoever is on the ballot is at least somewhat respectable.

This, of course, is embarrassing. However, I have to add to your list. First there was DeMint, then "horse-banger," then Wilson, then Sandford, then Bauer, ad infinitum.
Several of my friends from other states have contacted me to ask what is wrong with SC. Clearly, this shows that these issues are an embarrassment for the entire state.
