It's not just Africans, but many demographics. In any case, it seems like the mosque would be very well positioned. Some tracts in that area have near 30% of the population being from Muslim-majority nations.

This is big news. This was the original site of the casino and also my preferred site for a new Crew Stadium. While this is a positive development, I still would have preferred the casino. Columbus needs to keep building "attractions" to bring dollars and more people downtown. The casino and a dream idea of a new stadium does that. Not so sure this would.

This development is not on the large NRI property, aka the former casino property. Not sure where they see a need for 3 hotels. Maybe they know something we don't about that NRI property? Crew Stadium?

Ah yeah, I think you're right. There are 3 tracts of land and this development takes up the northern and eastern ones. The remaining tract appears to be large enough for a soccer stadium. I know about 1-2 years ago, the Crew sent out surveys in regards to the current stadium and thoughts on a new one. Not much as been mentioned since. I know they have a pretty length lease at the fairgrounds unfortunately.

I don't like the surface lots around the towers, but I suppose those could easily be filled in over time. They mention the parking like it's an incredible feature, but there's something lost in translation to urban environments. That said, this is all preliminary and could change. I wonder if the Downtown development guidelines apply here? I assume so, and if they do, surface lots are largely discouraged, but I can see the commission rolling over on that. I'm glad that this is not the Nationwide portion of the AD. Whatever plans they have for the old casino site haven't been released, but all this development has to be putting some pressure on them to go with some grander in scale. At least, that's what I hope.

-An additional 200 apartments in the northern section of the development for a total of up to 614 units.
-A 200-room hotel in a 12-story building.
-A 125-room, extended-stay hotel in a 6-story building. These tend to serve as apartments as well, so the total units would be 739.

Vote of confidence in Columbus as a convention city by the money people? That an easy walk to the convention center.

Another thought is including hotel space to get plan approval as there are not enough rooms to land large conventions.
