Hey all-

I'm moving from IL to Columbus in a couple weeks and will need help carrying heavy furniture from my moving truck up to my 2nd floor apartment. All the moving companies seem to hire out actual movers who pack up your things, transport them, etc. I'm just looking to hire a couple people to help carry these things out of my moving truck.

Any suggestions?

Good luck to you. We just moved from Tx to WV with a UHaul, and we knew after that long trip we'd like help. Uhaul said they could hire unpackers to help us at 130 bucks for 2 people for 2 hours, but when I asked them for the number to the movers they wouldnt give it to me. The woman said she could not give me the number till I put my order in. I didnt know exactly when we'd need them and wanted to call at a later time, but that set me off wrong so we didnt use them. I am curious what answers you will get. We still have to pack up and unpack again when we find a home here. Like I said, good luck to you. Moving is not easy no matter how you look at it!

That's a very good question I'd like to know the answer to as well. I could possibly be making the same move as well.

What part of Illinois are you moving from?

I can't wait to get out of Illinois. I hate it here.

I'll do it with three; Me, Myself and I.
Do multiple personalities count?

https://www.movinghelp.com/

Has reviews for available movers. Some of the prices are higher, but at least you can feel good about the reviews...

Try "two men and a truck". Its an actual business here in columbus. I have done a full move across town with them and hired them to move some of the larger furniture items for my in laws. 614-224-6683. very professional and competitive rates.

Thanks! I'll give them a call.

I also found a company called Thompson Moving Company (Thompson Moving & Storage - Home) that says they do these kinds of unpacking jobs. I'll also give them a call and see what the deal is. Will post updates.
