Hi I really need help from a computer "expert".

My computer crashed a few days ago; Got Blue Screen....System Memory Dump Crash.....Restart Windows to avoid damage.

When I restarted all I get is the HP Blue Invent LOGO.

Tried F8 Key for safe mode...nothing. Then tried system recovery....F11 Key...still no recovery menu????

All I get is blank screen with blinking rectangle in upper, right hand corner.

Tried running recovery discs....get.....DISK BOOT FAILURE........INSERT SYSTEM DISC...Press Enter.....tried this and still get nothing...not even recovery options and I did disconnect all USB devices except Mouse and Keyboard.

Went into BIOS...shows main Drive "C" at it's Full Capacity????? Ran SMART check in all three options says drive is fine.

Tried resetting boot priorities to Hard Drive(s)?????? And to DVD Drive...still only get insert disc.......

Fans are all functioning.

ANYONE have any idea what's wrong before I call computer repair.

It seems as IF Windows Vista has been purged from my computer drive as well as all my data.

I do have recovery discs I made plus everything backed up on DVD's and external hard drive.

ANY suggestions and/or advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

THANKYOU!!!!!

Since you have the system fully backed up, then run the restore CD's and see what happens. A guess would be is that your hard drive has failed. Is this a desktop or a laptop? Model number?

I tried running restore CD's.....DVD drive working according to BIOS plus drive light is on......just get Insert dics...I put in first disc and nothing...shouldn't I "see" Recovery Manager......get...insert disc again...so I inserted second disc......after about ten minutes.......of running first one....still nothing.

BIOS shows Main drive is visible & functioning....plus SMART check says drive is working.

BIOS shows drive is at full capacity????? Shouldn't it show ONLY available drive space????

Computer is a HP Desktop Pavilion......

Thanx anyway...

Pretty sure BIOS only shows total capacity, not available.

I'm not sure.

Either way shows drive is functional then at full capacity......and I see shadow copies in Boot Time setup?????

So I'm totally frustrated as why it won't boot up and/or run recovery manager?????

Look in the BIOS for a screen that let's you choose the device boot order. Put the DVD drive as first and see if it helps.

A long shot...

Edit: Desktop or laptop?

Desktop.

I changed Boot Device priority in BIOS to
every drive and then also Boot to DVD Drive first too......

Only get...Insert Disc...Press Enter

Went to Boot Time Menu...shows two shadow copies...does that mean factory drive is still there???

Could it have something to do with the partition between the drives??????...it's driving me crazy...been at it for about 30 hours over past few days.

I've read that may clear up problem...but it's beyond my capabilities.

I was able to install a new system fan and connect to Motherboard but that's as much as I can do.

Have no clue where Hard Drive is located but I know what it should look like.

What make and model of PC? There is probably someplace on the Internet that will tell you how to do it. It's not that difficult to do. Easier than installing that fan in my opinion.
