Yeah, it's 2.5 years old but it's something to brag about a little. Mostly, I initially spent maybe $2400 on the initial build, then kept adding / upgrading parts until lately. Bought the i7 2600K CPU for a steal at $249 Fry's Sale. Both Dell 30" monitors $1270 & $1250 each with warranty and accident protection. My EVGA Geforce 570 HD was an ok video card 2.5 years ago but now it's outdated, and I just discovered today that it can't handle 3 monitors. So I will upgrade it in Q1 or Q 2 2014 with a top of the line Geforce 880. But I still can play some games at 2560 x 1600 resolution, like Tomb Raider. 32GB ddr3 2133 is awesome and I don't run into computer stutter when I load up with tons of web browsers and applications.

I guess I won't upgrade next year Q2 2014 when Haswell E comes out, because it's just too expensive to build a new computer with 32 GB ddr3, a 1TB ssd, an 880, and a 4TB & 3 TB hard drive. I finally will buy a laptop summer 2014 when Maxwell video cards comes out for laptops. My current Dell E1705 laptop was bought Feb 2006.

See the pics of my build!

Now when some of you need that powerful desktop, mine is an example of one, although the cpu is somewhat outdated. I guess I will buy my next desktop when an affordable cpu is twice as fast as my i7 2600K cpu. So maybe my desktop has a 4 to 5 year life, then it will be a backup computer.

I have removeable hard drive and ssd trays, for security purposes and for running multiple hard drives. If I brought this desktop out of city for a temp job, my 4TB data hd and OS ssd are removable and I can bring them with me to work, in case if my desktop gets stolen from my apt. Then hopefully they won't get my passwords and critical data. I have two ssd's for OS's - 512 GB and 250GB Samsungs. The 250 GB one is for testing software and install tests.

Sometime August 2013 my Geforce 570 broke, and it took two weeks to mail it, get it diagnosed and repaired, and shipped back to me by EVGA. It was determined to be faulty because I put it into my old backup desktop, an i7 920 build. So it's always good to have a backup computer in case your main one goes bad. I initially bought my i7 2600K as a better computer than my i7 920 because at that time I was getting rid of my old AMD XP 2400 backup computer, and why buy a lame already outdated computer when you're replacing that old computer? So my method is to buy a great fast enough new computer and then the current computer will be my old backup computer.

It pays to have a backup computer because when my 3TB Western Digital External USB HD broke I also tested it on both computers to determine if it broke.

Yeah, it's funny - I don't have a desk big enough for the 3 monitors, and to type I put the keyboard on my lap. No desk space for a keyboard to rest on. And when I PC game the keyboard rests on top of my computer with my left hand using that and my right hand is on my gaming mouse on the small desk space.

If someone said here's a choice between a $400 chair or a $400 graphics card I'm taking the chair.
