I googled last night to figure out how to fix this, and now I can get to the site as a guest. But when I try to log in using my name and password, that's when it now takes me to "Business Locator for iPhone." Not much better than before!

Any ideas???
The link to continue to city data should be at the bottom

Can you make a bookmark that goes straight to the forum? (www.city-data.com/forum)

I can't see a setting to use the actual website rather than a mobile version. You have an iPad, but it's giving you an iPhone page.
I deleted the bookmark I had previously, and created a new one. But still having the same problem. And it doesn't matter if I try to get to the forum through a bookmark, through google or yahoo, or by typing "city-data.com/forum" into the address bar, or by typing "city-data.com" into the address bar, then clicking on the icon on that page for the forum. However I try it, I end up at the redirect.

Press and hold both the Sleep Button on the top and the Home Button simultaneously. The Apple logo will appear in about 10 seconds, and that is when the reset/cleanup is done. At that point, you can let go of both buttons and try to login to city-data again.
Thanks for your suggestion. I just now tried it.....unfortunately it did not help.

As I've said, I can now sometimes arrive at the forum site, but when I log in, I get redirected. Oddly, after logging in, sometimes the city-date page says:

"Thank you for logging in, kayanne"

and sometimes it says:

"Thank you for logging in, . "

Directly below that it says "Click here if your browser does not automatically redirect you," but that link takes me to the Business Locator for iPhone page.

Could it be a problem specifically with my account? Since it sometimes changes me name to a period, it makes me wonder. Can a moderator look into that theory?

You said in your OP that this problem started about 2 weeks ago or so. So before that you had no problem accessing city-data on your iPad?

Do you remember making any significant changes on the iPad prior to the problem?

If this was a problem that I was having on my iPad right now, I would be seriously thinking about doing a Reset that involves Erasing All Content and Settings and putting it back to the way it was when I first bought it (with original factory settings). That procedure also resets the Safari browser to the way it was on day 1.

If you have been backing up your content (apps, books, pics, etc.) automatically, it can be restored easily enough when you go through the setup after the restore. It will ask if you want to restore from your iCloud Backup.

Anyway, that's what I would be thinking about at this time. I know it's a pain, but.....

One more suggestion that I saw helped someone with a redirecting problem.

Remove any stored website data.

Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data ...... then.. Remove All Website Data > Remove Now

HEY-HEY!!! I don't know which of the many suggestions that I repeatedly tried did it, but the problem is now gone!! I am on my iPad right now, and for some unknown reason, when I touched my bookmarked CD icon, it let me log right in. No redirect whatsoever!!!

Thank you all for your help! I'm a happy girl this morning! I got my CD forum back! Merry Christmas to me!!!
