The Windows licence on the HP cannot be moved to another PC, not to mention doing what you suggest would very likely result in serious driver issues for the OP and a likely downgrade of the OS.

I'm not violating anything, merely answering the OP's question.
The HDD can be moved and set to slave without interfering with the main HDD - not even sure why you think otherwise.
The old HDD image can be restored to the new one either in whole or part, but a) the newer OS can be reinstalled easily if OP chose to do a full restore and a reinstall would be moot if OP chose a partial image restore, b) Windows automatically obtains drivers, c) most hardware is going to be compatible with Windows anyway, d) the Office license may be a full license that can be transferred to a new PC or a license that cannot, since I don't know I'm just giving the OP a heads up and his options.
