I have Windows 10 and a point and click camera. I also have a program for transferring photos from my camera to my computer. The problem is apparently the two files do not have a connection.... my phone and the transferring program. A message says I need to create an association in the default programs control panel between these two. How do I do that? I did transfer photos one other time, but it's been awhile and I don't remember how I did it! If you know what I'm talking about please help.
Generally.... plug the camera into the USB port, turn the camera on. You should hear that familiar USB connection sound.
Open File Explorer. The camera should be listed and you can browse the files just like it's a hard drive. You can copy and paste files from the camera to your computer, even delete them.
If it's not listed go to the manufacturers website and look up the model, find the driver for your OS version and follow the directions to install the driver. You only need the driver, they may have other software but generally speaking it's usually junk.
Once you install the driver repeat the first part of my directions go back to File Explorer and the camera should be listed.
I got tired of the camera trying to dictate what program the computer used, so I just pop the card out of the camera and copy paste the files.
If you just install the driver the camera should act like any drive, Windows may already have the driver so you might not have to install anything.
Autoplay will ask you what to do with it first time, select "take no action" or "open folder to view files" if you want to automatically open it in File Explorer. If you have already made a selection and it's trying to open it with some other program right click the camera in File Explorer and select "Autoplay", this will bring up menu so you can change default behavior.
Apparently, the camera is not listed on my computer and the manufacturer says it needs no updating as it already has all it needs, including driver. I am stymied.
The photos I want to transfer will show up on my computer, but they won't transfer to the picture file.

First you say it doesn't show up in My computer, then you say it does show up.
Explain the steps you are taking exactly and what happens.
