I've been using XP, just recently rebuilt my gaming box (Asus P5E, Intel Wolfdale 3.0, Nvidia GTX260, 4GB ram, 2 x 250GB in a stripped array) to be able to play Crysis, Bioshock, etc. As I have a Microsoft Action Pack subscription I figured I'd try Vista X64 just for S & G (and DX10 support). So far seems pretty stable and fast, drivers available for all my hardware.
What are you gamers using, and please, just playing solitair does not qualify you as a gamer, heavy gamers only please
If I could delete your post I would, linux is not a gaming OS.
I beg your pardon? Crysis runs quite beautifully on Linux. In fact, because Linux uses less of resources, it actually runs better than my Windows PC. The media center is also better - which means Crysis on the big screen = loves.
Now, if you're asking which Windows to get, Vista Ultimate seems to run without a hitch on my second computer. My laptop runs XP x64 quite nicely. All three are perfect gaming systems.

Tux Racer doesn't count as high end. :P
Yeah, but the OP mentioned Crysis and Bioshock - both of which run smoothly at the highest settings.... While I compile a project for work and browse the internet on screens two and three.
I have Vista home premium installed on my machine. I have thrown most of the more well known game titles at her, and she manages to run them just fine.
