I just got a W-mart weekly ad and there is an ad for an Acer AS5515-5879, 15.4", 3GB memory, 160 GB HD, with Vista basic for $348. I couldn't find much info on this model other than the ad write up. At this price I thought this would make a great travel laptop. I also thought about replacing Vista with Linux.
Opinions please.

Yep, I spotted that as well.. looks like average laptop price may bottom to $300-350 from $400-500..

Watch yourself at Walmart. Quite often the system you see there is specifically built for them to be cheaper. Best Buy does the same thing.

Did a Google. Looks like it's available at Walmart and eBay. Makes me nervous...
