Try WindowRama in Stamford. I bought 21 windows from them but had my contractor install them.
They will customize and work with whatever fits your needs. Mine got the energy efficient E something tint to it..Keeps the heat outside a little more than the average window.

As far as I know - they can be repaired. I guess the question is whether or not you want to go through the expense... If you have a double-paned window that's sealed with argon gas inside, that would cost more to repair than a single pane window that you use with a storm window. If the wood itself is damaged or warped, or if your framing has warped, they might need to rip some or all of it out to repair. I guess you just need to measure the cost for repair vs. replace, and amortize it over how long your choice will last. Repairs might just be a patch that will last you 5 years, but a replacement could easily be 15-20+ yrs. Good questions for Bert - I'm an IT guy, not a window guy.

I agree, for numerous reasons, such as good insulation. And often people consider vinyl windows to be cheap and tacky, especially in the wealthier towns, which can hurt when reselling unless you choose a good brand. On the other hand, many people like the convenience of vinyl windows. I do have a friend with vinyl windows though, and she really dislikes them. They have yellowed over the past few years. Another reason to be very careful of which brand you choose if going with vinyl.

My parents used DiGiorigi Roofing & Siding out of Beacon Falls - I believe they have a Fairfield office too. They were efficient and very quick.

Go with Pella wood...you won't be disappointed! Remember...you get what you pay for!
