Why? We're discussing the results of the latest census. We've waited ten years for it to come out. After all, this is city-data.

I understand. It just seems to have degenerated into a 'mine is longer than yours' discussion, at least for some people.

It's funny to see Glastonbury singled out for having snobby residents, as if that weren't the norm for upscale-appearing towns in this great state.

I have no reason to have an inferiority complex.

Actually, some people in this thread have taken a 'yours is shorter than mine' approach, which is even worse.

It seems this has long since gone beyond a factual discussion of the relative wealth and income levels of different Connecticut towns.

I think these statistics are highly skewed in any case by anomalies such as the way boundaries are drawn.

I do agree with some of the comments about the disagreeability of people who have fancy homes and don't want to pay their bills to keep up their homes. People like that are one of the things that bring darkness to the world. Would they want their employers to not pay them for their work?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. City boundaries?

Agreed. I mean we are talking Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Leona Helmsley, R. J. Reynolds, Glenn Close, Mel Gibson, Ron Howard, Mary Tyler Moore, Victor Borge, Kathy Lee Gifford, Diana Ross, Regis Philbin, Pedro Martinez, Tom Seaver, Richard Blumenthal ( ) is just scratching the surface.

Not that anyone here is splitting hairs like that and showing sections of a town. *ahem*

Maybe we should single out North Greenwich, Carringtons Pond, Round Hill etc.

Per Capita Income: $4,345,000 Median Home Price: $6,400,000.

The fact that Chevy Chase is singling out sections of the town like that, makes me wonder if they are infatuated with "looking rich".

Pfft, you think Glastonbury is bad you should see the people in Fairfield.

They are. I have an uncle in Bethesda and he is obsessed with comparing Bethesda to Greenwich, Beverly Hills and Palm Beach. It's really comical how they break down their sections of town to make them rank higher on the lists. Funny enough, two of Maryland's counties have average household incomes of 30k (Allegany and Garrett). They have appalachia and inner-city poor while we have inner city poor.

List of people from Greenwich, Connecticut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There was a funny Judge Judy episode a few weeks ago (ironically, both parties involved in the suit were from Maryland) where she was so appalled at the scummy things they were doing that her reply (after rolling her eyes) was, "I'm staying in Greenwich".

Pretty much. Some towns/cities are smaller and not economically diverse, so their income levels can appear higher than other towns that are bigger and have more middle class. So looking at the town as a whole is not always a perfect indicator of the neighborhood you might be looking at.

My town (Fairfield) shows up at #14, though we have some sections that are very wealthy and could probably compare with Westport, Weston, etc. The relative economic diversity was one reason I chose Fairfield over some of the surrounding towns when I was first looking.
