Willimantic is near the Uconn Storrs campus... it is nowhere near the Uconn Health Center.

Willimantic is about 35 miles from the UConn Medical School in Farmington. That would be nearly an hour drive. You must be getting the medical school confuse with the main campus of UConn in Storrs. Jay

Why not just live in the Forest, where most of the other students are at? There are always tons of units available and at good prices. You can easily walk to the health center (although you have to cross a five lane road).

Edgemont, not bad. That's West Hartford. Not the nicest part of it, but not terrible.

Madison in Hartford - no. It actually gets significantly worse even though it's not far from Edgemont.

Just a heads up, Edgemont Ave is detached houses & there's no apartments here. If you're looking to rent there might be a house for lease, but it will cost more than an apartment. I have a few friends who live one street up from Edgemont on Englewood, they have children and like it here and haven't had problems.

I agree with the previous person re: Madison. It's a side street of Park and that's not a good area. If you're looking in Hartford it's best to stick to either downtown or the West side.

I'm in a similar situation. I will be moving to Hartford from Seattle and I do not want to live in a place I don't feel safe. I was just approved for an apartment on 210 Farmington Avenue. How is that area?

It seems like if it is only 4 blocks from West Hartford that it must be an OK area. I will have to walk the 2 blocks to and from Asylum Ave to take the bus to school everyday.

Any advice?

Ehhhhh not the greatest area. I guess not the worst either. Those more familiar can chime in. Depends on your tolerance for the 'hood.
