So I am staying a couple of nights in Hartford and booked a room in a hotel located on Asylum St (across from Bushnell Prk & State Capitol). What's the feel of the neighborhood there? Now mind you I am single and in my late 20s so knowing that there is a lot of nightlife and entertainment is not a bad thing for me. Though I am concerned about safety. Tell me what you guys know.

You are in a safe place...don't worry. Downtown doesn't have any problems. Unless you head into North Hartford trying to score some crack you'll be fine.

As for nightlife...plenty of stuff to do, depends on what you're into. If you want to head out to a nice dinner first you can and then head out to the bars/clubs in downtown. There is a lot of theater and the nations oldest art museum if that stuff interests you.

Give some more info on what a "night out" for you is and I drop some names of places to get you started.

Id love to hear your recommendations of good places to eat. In terms of nightlife, something close to my age (I'm in my late 20s). Going to be there until Friday, dunno if anything is exciting midweek, maybe Thursday?

safe there, you might check out bourban street or take a bus and go to pigs eye. Also coaches bar and grill might be a good place to be on thursday seeing how its the first NFL game.

Other options are Arch street tavern, City steam brewery cafe, Crush, Element 315. Not sure if the last 2 are still around as they are clubs and i dont club anymore.
