Has anyone seen any yet this year?

Flowers are in bloom and I have had the feeder up for a couple of weeks now and I haven't seen a single hummingbird. Last year we had quite a few.

Has anyone seen any this year yet?

A little too soon for hummingbirds.

They're just starting to get into the northeast from their migration. They're on their way though- usually by mid to late May . Keep your feeders ready- they're be famished when they arrive.

Our first Mr. Hummingbird just arrived two days ago! Finally! And our feeder has been out for over a month. They are much later this year, due to the cold spring, I suspect. If you can, put a red hanging plant near the feeder to attract them. Trumpet flowers are their favorite, but anything with red flowers will draw them in. Look for them at dawn and dusk. Keep the feeder filled - they'll be here this week.

Made a new batch of syrup last night. I've had mine out for about three weeks, changing the mixture once a week to insure freshness. When the birds are here, I have to refill very often. It's a small, one cup feeder.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing them.

I've seen at least one here out my office window along the shoreline east of New Haven

The egrets are also back in the coastal marshes, a saw several at Hammonasset this past weekend, a amazing sight.

Still no hummingbirds but I did have a bear meander across the front yard the other night! I and especially my kids thought that was cool.

Just an update:

Saw two hummingbirds at dusk yesterday. Heard them first and knew they were here.

We had one a couple of days ago, obviously a returning one because it was flying around the area where my old feeder was in years past. I had seen this thread and meant to refill mine, but I got busy and didn't do it. After I saw the hummingbird I quickly filled the feeder and put it out, hopefully it will return. At least I have a lot of blooming flowers right now, so it didn't go completely hungry.
