A lot of people don't realize…. this number has a lot to do with baby boomers who have second homes in other states changing their primary address…

In recent years, a lot of people I know in their 50s-60s changed their address to what used to be there vacation place in Florida...

“We have a large baby-boomer portion that has begun retirement, and larger numbers are coming,” Van Winkle said. “We’re going to see some sizeable issues on these population fronts, with people retiring and moving, and young people choosing other places because job creation isn’t what it should be. It’s a relatively quiet economy, and that won’t generate what our leaders are hoping for.
“Companies are growing where they can find people and skilled labor, and even though Connecticut’s labor force is highly skilled, it’s not growing at a rapid rate. So … it doesn’t bode well. … It’s not that we’re moribund. It’s just a slower growth area.”

“Younger people have increasingly decided that urban places are where they want to live,” Van Winkle said. “There is an enormous demographic trend of people in their 20s and early 30s that have chosen to move to cities — Washington or New York or San Francisco — dense urban places. Connecticut doesn’t really have those.”

Anybody know when the December Jobs report is coming? It's been over month since November's report...

Just looking at the age is not enough. That report is missing information on income levels of people moving out.

Here you go. This got buried, no pun intended.
Connecticut's Hiring Hasn't Been This Good Since 1998 - Hartford Courant
Looks like we gained 4800 jobs while November jobs report revised downward 1700. Read the 4th or 5th paragraph in the article. The numbers don't look that good when you dig deep.

Thanks. Wonder if December will be downgraded next. Still a good sign though, even if the "quality" of the jobs isn't what I thought it would be.

And wow, I didn't realize we had such amazing growth in the mid-to-late 80s.

By now everyone has seen this Back9Network Cuts Workforce By 40 Percent | Golf.com

CT needs to stop giving loans and grants to these companies. This was an epic failure from the beginning. Waste of money both investor and taxpayer. Wonder if they will repay the $5m loan and grant?

This...Colorado had best and Connecticut the worst home-price growth in 2014 - MarketWatch I am really torn about. While CT is last in the nation with a housing price drop of -2.2% maybe this isn't a bad thing. In fact I think it might be good. There are some good homes available at resonable prices right now in CT. Granted by laws of supply and demand it doesn't fair well, but I'd rather have my market value drop by 2% than riase by 10% if I was a buyer.

I for one will be taking advantage of this. I have my eye on a couple apartments in Hartford that once the busway opens should catch a good monthly rental cost.
