Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'll definitely check out New England, and I'll check out and see how far Bloomfield and some of the Hartford area places are.

And I've been to BAR, and I really enjoyed this Rye IPA they had and their seasonal Pumpkin. Their pizza was really good too, and many of the people I met in CT tell me it's the best in the state. I do know that the natives take their pizza real serious though

Cheers.

There's a couple of smaller ones in the Bristol area that we went to last weekend. Relic is in Plainville and has free tastings and is all Belgian style. Firefly Hollow is in Bristol, only been open a couple of weeks, and has some interesting beers. They are homebrewers who funded their brewery on Kickstarter. Tasters there are like $2. (The brewer at Relic said that you can only charge for tasters if you have a liquor license in addition to the brewer's license.)

Both are not too close to New Haven, but it's a small state, and there aren't that many breweries.

It may not be the best pizza, but it's up there. Most have an allegiance with either Pepe's, Modern, or Sally's.

Two Roads will be closer to New Haven than the Hartford area breweries. I recommend going and taking the tour, it's the largest brewery in CT. You can hit NEBCO and then Two Roads in succession coming from NH.

I have friends coming home to visit Thanksgiving weekend and we may end up going to BAR that Friday or Saturday before heading to NYC. Maybe I'll see you in the throngs of people! If you do go back there and get the pizza, you have to get it with mashed potatoes. You have to. So delicious!

Incidentally, Two Roads is pretty close to the Franke Pepe in Stamford, which is not THAT crowded on a Saturday afternoon.

Say what?

Two Roads is in Stratford, not Stamford. And there's no Pepe's in Stamford. Maybe you mean the one in Fairfield?

Mash potatoes? Alright... Done. I really can't see the problem with taking two favorite things and putting them together.

And who knows, maybe I'll bump into you. I'm the guy that always wears a Duke hat, which apparently is a big no-no in Husky territory for some reason

I have a former co-worker that rocks his Duke hat everywhere, including his favorite New Haven pizza haunt. No taunts. Now, wear a Yankees hat in Boston... that's a different story.

Oops, replace Stamford with Bridgeport. Neither is in Bridgeport, but they are both pretty close to the border (albeit on opposite ends.)
