I hate all these crime threads. After the last 10 pages, I saw 25 threads about how crime ridden ct cities are . A crime can happen anywhere. Anyone can go insane and missed people on a town with 1000 people. Just putting out my own opinion.

"a XX can happen anywhere" is the classic excuse for everything.

I would rather read the crime threads then your typical boring, "where should I live in CT" thread.

A crime can happen anywhere is so misleading and misinform. I can guarantee you that someone being murdered in greenwich is probably a domestic issue. A murder in Hartford is probably someone getting gun down in the streets by thugs.

Which would you feel more safe in, Greenwich or Hartford, a murder just occurred in both places.

I'm more concerned about all the speeders going 85+ mph on our roads.

But why start a new thread? I would have thought adding your opinion to one of the existing crime threads or discussing the number of what you view as similar threads with the mod would have been a better alternative.

While a crime can happen anywhere, the probability of it happening is what separates safe and unsafe neighborhoods and cities.

I'm always guarded when i see new posters that have a high number of thread creations on various topics. In my experiences here on C-D, it usually(not always though) means that it isn't a "new" poster.

Do other state forums so frequently post negative news about their own states? Or, is this more of a New England phenomenon?

Or, if somebody asks about living in their state, do they get posters jumping all over them and/or telling them not to live here in other state forums as well?

Default Me too

I get sick of seeing crime threads too. Some folks are just obsessed. Selling fear for profit works on them. Unfortunately, on the Internet the rest of us are exposed to their ongoing obsession. Also, those most bent of following "true crime" relentlessly never know very much reliably factual about the cases the follow and blast the rest of the world about continuously, and they do damage to the justice system and other people's lives because of it. It's more than a little weird and depressing.

We are the only state forum where some people call their city "crappy." All the other state forums are actually producing ideas to fix the crime.

Probably because CT is very polarized in terms of political ideology. Most people on this forum love this place and think its a utopia. Personally, I despise CT and I want to see CT become the next Detroit so I can finally get my wife to agree that we should leave this sorry place.
