Or not walking traffic, but enough traffic to run...traffic decreased in Maine where my business is unprofitable. We lost thousands of $$s due to low customers.

You'd have to sacrifice more than a bit. To me, Trumbull is a town you look in when you have at least $350k to spend on a SFH. ~$450k-$500k is a sweet spot in Trumbull.

As was said, walking traffic in the area is only really substantial in New Haven and to a lesser degree Stamford. West Hartford Center too, but competition is stiff there and rents are high.

There's a few major retail hubs in the state. Just look for population density. Generally the whole immediate 95 corridor from New Haven west is pretty dense.

After touring Google Earth, I saw some areas that have heavy traffic. Can I please get input on these roads?

RT 1: Milford
RT 1: Norwalk
RT 1: South of Stamford
Federal Road Danbury
Newtown Road Danbury

There was a zone in Bridgeport, but even I know that Bridgeport is horrible and I live in New England (Maine.)

I'd avoid Bridgeport if you're looking for low crime. Route 1 in Norwalk and Greenwich is very busy, but the area is also very expensive. I think with your budget you are better off in either the Danbury or Milford area. Both have a healthy retail presence. Milford is a bit higher traffic overall, much of Danbury's retail success is based on the mall - but it really comes down to which area you like better. One is coastal, one is inland with a lake. Milford is denser. Milford generally has better schools and is more walkable, but again - Bethel is a great option in the Danbury area with good schools. Both areas are low crime.

I have also heard Norwich was good, but a lot of competing salons.

Well, is the Danbury Lake huge to swim in, or a tiny circle pond?

Candlewood is the biggest lake in CT, but I'm not sure there's much of any bodies of water in CT you'd want to swim in.

I heard someone say something about Norwich, CT. I looked it up on google maps, it is near either I-395 or 495 (I forgot.) And the LI Sound isn't good to swim in either? And why can't we swim in the lakes.
