What? I would not say Fairfield County colleges are peon in comparison to Hartford County colleges. Fairfield County colleges have approximately 34,000 students verses Hartford's approximately 38,000 students. Not that big of a difference. You just happen to live in a town without a large college. Head up to Fairfield/Bridgeport where there are more (Fairfield U, U of Bridgeport, Sacred Heart, Housatonic, College of St. Vincent) and you will see the difference. Jay

I have encountered surprising social conservatism lately in Stratford. This is only one example of many, but last week I was told by one resident that the reason I didn't believe in the Bible was because I just didn't comprehend it. (Yeah, um...I read it in multiple languages for my linguistics degree from a top university, but anyways...)

For what its worth, looking at the town by town election maps every two years, the southwestern connecticut towns swing to the Republican side more often that anywhere else in Ct. That said, Ct overall is a very liberal minded state.
