So my assumptions were correct! LI Sound was probably beautiful once upon a time, but compared to the beaches I've been to in my life, especially in SoCal, it's so....ugly, lol! I grew up around water, especially cities by oceans, so, I've seen quite a few extremely diverse spots. I'm not a fan of much in the Northeast. Another thing that throws me off are the amount of piers with their ships. Something about it just looks ugly the way they're all parked in congestion. Ehhhhhh. x_x

I hope to go to Milford beach sometime this month, but, I only have high hopes for Madison. I've heard their beach is really beautiful. To be honest, I'm not big on beaches, which is why, I didn't really care much. There's definitely more greenery around Danbury, which I appreciate! Milford has that hustle bustle life style, especially on Post Road or that Waterbury feel else where. Can't quite describe it, but, not too big of a fan. I haven't explored much farther than that, so, there maybe some beautiful parts I'm missing out on.

Is there anything West of Bridgeport worth checking out in terms of (public) beaches?

LI Sound is still beautiful.

West of Bridgeport there's only one state beach, Sherwood, which is decent. Jennings Beach in Fairfield is very nice, probably the nicest in FFC. You'll have to park and walk to access it. Southport Beach and Compo Beach are also fairly nice. Further West, beaches tend to be very rocky.

I personally think beaches east of Bridgeport are the nicest. The Audubon Center beach in Milford is gorgeous, and free to park. Although it's more of a nature-observing beach than swimming/sunbathing. Walnut and Silver Sand beaches are nice too, great boardwalk. Gulf Beach has incredible sunsets and watching boats in/out of the harbor is great, but the sand is a little rocky. My favorite beach west of New Haven is easily Woodmont. Nice sand, gorgeous views, historic homes, a varied coast (some rocky outlets reminiscent of Maine, and then a long sandy stretch), nice sidewalk to walk along the coast, very clean. West Haven beaches are pretty good too, especially on the western half of the city.

Branford and Guilford are very scenic with islands and inlets. Driving along the coast there is stunning. Madison has great sandy beaches, including the Surf Club and Hammonasset. Hammonasset is definitely the most substantial feeling beach in the state. I don't go east of there much, but I do like the Old Saybrook coast and Rocky Neck.

Waterbury feel in Milford? Erm, ok.

BTW, why isn't Fairfield listed? They have more than 50,000 people.

Why isn't Fairfield listed, AntonioR?

Oh wait, i know the answer.

Because Fairfield is NOT a city!

Gee wait a minute.....Stratford and East Hartford aren't cities either!!

GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.
West Hartford is not a city either. Fairfield has 59,000 people so it should be on the list as well. Jay
