Let’s hope this new tax plan disguised as a Transportation Plan drops like a sack of rocks thrown off the Bridges of Troubled Waters in CT.

That rate for out of state drives must be all the CT government needs to ensure those drivers pay 40% of the costs for tolls.

An interesting component of CT2030 is revenue sharing with the towns hosting toll gantries. Waterbury seems to be the biggest beneficiary with $1.3 million per year. I am sure the city would welcome that. Jay

So you don’t think any of the improvement projects proposed as part of CT2030 are needed?

Keep in mind that without tolls, none of these would likely be built in our lifetime. You may not care but I’m sure the hundreds of thousands of drivers do.

If we do not proceed with this, exactly what do you think we should do? Should we continue the current bandaid approach that has done little to address improving our highways? Or should we go forward with the unsustainable Republican plan that borrows billions with no way to pay for it other than to raise the gas tax? It’s easy to say no, but without a realistic alternative proposal you are jousting blowing smoke. Jay

Charter Oak

Tolls by Mail: $1.00

That's just one example, but it seems like only a 20% discount for CT residents, whereas the NY residents (or whoever has an in-state EZP) are getting a whopping 60% discount.
The PDF notes Base Rate at $1.00 - not tolls by mail. I'm guessing the base rate is for out of state EZ Pass and mail billing will be higher. Here in MA, they have 3 tolls rates based on in-state, out-of-state, and pay by plate.

Would you rather the current times remain? Remember the currents times are due to increased safety standards that slows trains down and construction on the line. The plan does a lot more than just reduce travel times. It add new cars and adds direct service from Waterbury to Grand Central. That’s a big improvement that should help with economic development in the Naugatuck River Valley. Jay

Smart way to try to buy support and build public opinion for the tolls.
