Also budget airlines typically pad the ticket cost with many extras like baggage costs, food & alcohol sales, headphone rentals, etc.

I'm not sure it all adds up to a profitable flight but there might be other factors such as money being thrown the airlines way from European governments interested in US tourists.
I don't know anything about jet fuel prices. University of Google showed me 5+ before. That's a very big difference. Maybe the diff between commercial prices and farmer joes price for his crop duster?

Looking up prices at The Hartford Jet Center which I assume is Brainard jet fuel is $5.99 at present so I think you might be right.

Joe crop duster doesn't have the bulk buying power major airlines can muster so he doesn't get a discount

Can somebody summarize the article for those of us too lazy to register or pay to read it?

Sure: Gov. Malloy will be announcing an Aer Lingus flight from Bradley to Dublin tomorrow. Looks like the state of CT is kicking in $5M in incentives.

Thanks. I love the affordable price and think it will come in handy for a lot of people who couldn't afford it otherwise. I'll stay tuned.

Good News. In New Britain we have 6 shuttles a day which take people to JFK/Newark so they can fly to Poland. Dublin has a massive amount of Polish Immigrants which results in several flights to cities in Poland. If this will go through I can see a good amount of people taking advantage of the Bradley-Dublin-Poland route.

BDL-Dublin service will start in September 2016. Having flown to Dublin for work and pleasure, this is exciting news!

Yes, this will be fantastic. I hope it lasts more than 1 year, unlike the 2007-08 flight to Amsterdam. Hopefully the $5M subsidy will ensure that, until the flight becomes profitable on its own.

Now all we need is a couple of West Coast flights!
