Isn't there a super stop & shop somewhere around U.S. 1?

There are 2 in town both on or right off Route 1 but not sure if they are within a mile of the station. Then again if you lived in Grasmere which is near Fairfield Metro Center station, I think you would be within a mile of the Stop & Shop on the Circle. Again, look at a map. Jay

Yes, he would be within a mile of the one on the Circle. If you are leaving Whole Foods, from the front, you make a left--go through the first light and bear right. The stop and shop will be down on your right, as will the bed bath and beyond.

Well this might be good news. I just talked to my boss, and she said that there is also an office in New Haven, and I could work there if easier. It seems there is one office in Bronx and another in New Haven. Is New Haven a better commute from Fairfield on the train? Also what about Trumbull, Stratford, or Milford? Just a reminder, I am looking for good schools as well.

Where in New Haven is the office? The ride to NH on metro north from Fairfield would be easy, but it may not be easy getting from the station to certain parts of NH. If it's located downtown, there are a few housing projects nearby and I wouldn't recommend walking. You can über or cab, but that's more money. Honestly, if you're living in Fairfield commuting to New Haven - just get a car. Your life would be much easier.

Also, if you can work in New Haven most of the time, you should look into suburbs around there.

The office is like a 3 min walk from Yale Univeristy. In the Yale Area. I took a look at Milford on a map, and it seems there is everything there. Are the schools good in Milford? How is the commute from Milford to New Haven on a train?

Milford schools are good. The commute to Yale from the station won't be easy, mostly because Yale Univeristy (NH green area) is not very close to the station. The train from Milford to New Haven (station A to station B) will be easy though. It can also be a sketchy walk in NH and I wouldn't recommend it.

I may have missed it, but why are you so against having a car? Your life would be much easier.

I am not against having a car at all. Just my wife and I have never really learned to drive. I have been considering getting a car and drivers license for some time, but who knows when that will happen. I grew up in a foreign country, Italy, and my parents didn't have a car when they were living in Italy, so I guess I never found the need of having a car. Italy is a lot easier to live in without a car, then the USA, but my wife and I have done it in the USA for about 10 years, and we managed well, so its possible.

Got it. If you can do the NH office most of the time, your commute will be much, much easier than the Bronx. Plus, the cost of living near New Haven is far less than lower Fairfield County. Homes in a town like Milford or Branford can easily be $100-200k less than a similar home in Fairfield.

Learning to drive and purchasing a vehicle will give you many more options as well.

Anymore opinions on Milford, CT? I looked at a map, and think Milford is pretty much exactly what I am looking for.

I found a plaza, a mall, restaurants, 2 supermarkets, train station, hospital, and even fine dining in orange like the next town over. I suppose if I can get a house in walking distance from that main road, I am good. Anyone second this?
