4th snowstorm in 10 days here. 24.5 inches total. After a long day of shoveling, its time to relax by the wood stove where my snowy shoes and clothes are nearby to dry.

Temp 18°F outside, feels like 6°F but had to go back out to take a couple more pics.

Winds picked up blowing snow around but the silence of the snowpack is never tiring.. Not a sole on the roads except the plows in the distance.

At the Stamford Cove Island Beach/Park, they were clearing the paths still.

A partially frozen inlet which is part of Long Island Sound. Last year was more frozen by now.

In the park now. The only prints in the snow were from animals.

And my favorite....

A Winter Sky with a Winter Surface. Temp was 11°F here. 9am.
You can see the water (Long Island Sound) and Long Island in the distant (10-15 miles away).

I still can't believe the snow changed to rain on Long Island but the snow change to Ice at the CT coast and never was raining. Always amazing.

So, the big question... How long will the snow piles last this year?

Last year I remember seeing some still hanging around in mid April. (in shaded spots but still around after warmth and rains)

This is from today

2/8/15.

Snowpack on ground still 12" but with current temps at 34°F we have some melting.

With melting comes leaks from Ice Jams. Even though I cleared 3 feet back there's still an ice jam from before.

Call me a nut but I'd rather clear ice jams with cold fingers then mow the lawn with a hot head & dripping with sweat. LOVE this time of year.

So nice to take a deep breath and feel the freshness!

I would rather mow my lawn every day than do that just once. My fingers would hate me!

Worked in Shelton, CT this morning.

People think of Western CT for the hills but even near South Central CT there are some crazy hills. I was there in the summer but you become more aware of their steepness in the winter. I don't know how they do while its snowing or ices over..

Elevation was less than 300 feet where I was travelling.

With hills come back drop views and this is what I LOVE! You don't get this in SWCT much.

Snowpack looked decent. Actually surprised a bit.

Blurry shot but had to snap a shot of the snowpack and backdrop

All I saw around town was machines hauling away snow. As if they got hit with a blizzard not long ago.. Wonder how much snow fell past couple weeks. (probably over 30")

Even Route 8 there were trucks cleaning the edges. Nice to see.. It's just routine for us in Winter. :-)

Man Route 8 is beautiful in the Autumn and in the Winter. Just so relaxing and so much elbow room!

Beautiful Morning. Temp 23° and patchy High clouds. River isn't frozen but what a gorgeous landscape!
