This is happening right now. I noticed there was a water main break around Silas Deane Hwy & Town Line Rd in Rocky Hill.
Currently in my house I have no water or pressure and am hearing a "whirring sound" coming from the pipe into the house (from the street) I have never experienced this before. I also do not see any MDC trucks in my area now that might be working on a problem.
The water main break seems like it would be too far from my house to effect me, but who knows.
When I call the MDC emergency number it is busy and/or has a 30+ minute wait.
So I guess my question is should I be concerned about this issue or wait it out?
If I were you I would probably call the local PD NON-EMERGENCY line and ask them if there is a water main break in your area. If there is they would certainly know about it. If there is a break - just expect that they are working on it and it will eventually be taken care of. If it is NOT a water main break - I would call a plumber to my home immediately and have them check for a problem.
I wish you well!!! Many times in a situation many people will call to report something and they operator gets overwhelmed (this is the weekend after all - probably not fully staffed). Just stay calm and warm for the time being!
