a Democrat looking to challenge Malloy in 2018? I don't know much about him politically, but he seems like a really good guy outside of politics.

Malloy probably won't run again in any case. He had planned to ditch the state to serve in the Clinton administration, but that went up in smoke on election day. He'll need to find something else to do with his time.

Bad move on his part. Back when William Oneill was governor and had not announced if he would run again or not, the daughter of John Bailey, who was big in the Democratic party in CT., announced she would run for governor. It was said at the time that was a bad thing to do as Gov. Oneill had not said he was not running. I believe it ended her political career (I can't recall her name, think first name was Barbara). That said, I agree that Gov. Malloy will not run again - he will look at the polls and his dismal approval rating and decide to "explore other options". I agree he had his eyes set on a federal post.

I believe the mayor of Danbury is thinking of running. Themis Klaridies should try and run IMO. She's a heavy critic of Malloy and has the same mindset of most CT residents when it comes to how Malloy has performed as governor. I am curious whether she will do a good job...

You're thinking of Barbara Kennelly. She was a congresswoman for the first district for many years. She ended up running for governor and losing against Rowland in 1998. O'Neill was long gone by then.

Nobody thought Malloy would run again for 2014 because of his low popularity... but, he did.

And he won. This time though I doubt the Repbkicans will run another unelectable candidate like Foley. That will make the difference. Jay
