Be Thankful You Live In Connecticut: New Ranking
https://patch.com/connecticut/trumbu...ut-new-ranking

"The Constitution State is America's third Best State to Live In, the website writes, in part because of its high median household income and other factors. Two other New England states are first and second, Massachusetts (#1) and New Hampshire (#2)."

"In Connecticut, the median household income of $73,433 a year the third highest of any state, which might help explain the state's long-lived population."

If all the wealthy are leaving (like many on this site write) how does CT keep winding up in the top 5 for income and is now #3?

Great stuff. This confirms my belief that New England is the best region in the United States. I know that RI, ME are lagging behind, however they are still beautiful/great places to live.

As for CT, the quality of life is excellent, despite moving from the number one state on that list (MA ), I am super happy to be here.

There should be more regional economic/cultural initiatives within New England.

I would argue that the best parts of CT are on the Shoreline past New Haven, also Hartford metro area (outside of the actual city itself) is an economic engine on it's own.

In fact, Fairfield County being overrun by ex-New Yorkers makes it more congested, pushy, and abrasive on a quality of life basis. Yes, those Wall Streeters make the money but have transformed the great New England towns of Greenwich, Westport, Darien etc. into a suburban extension of the City - which to me, is a net negative.

Yes, I work in Financial Services and no, I wouldn't work on Wall St for the reasons described above.

I like living here.Heck I moved back here. But having a high average income for the state doesn't make it a great place to live necessarily. All those high incomes bring is more taxes, and a higher COL. Also, the job market here in this state right now is lagging.

The West is the Best. No Wall Street, no Washington, D C.

The problem with everyone blaming FFC for skewing the results doesn't seem to realise that 75k is still very obtainable elsewhere in the state. I have no SO to speak of, but if I was a two-income household and they made even 10k less than me I would be looking at a household income of 80k. 45k and 35k for two salaries is not unreasonable anywhere in Connecticut.

I am not connected to FFC or the Hartford Metro in my line of work.

The money issue aside, everything else seems spot on. Connecticut is a great place to work and live (for 9 months of the year anyway, weather wise). People who hate Connecticut mostly hate it because they are team Red and team Blue controls the state. That's just what I've noticed. I could very well be wrong in that regard, but that's my personal experience.

Connecticut household income in 2016 was $73,433

Without Fairfield County average household in CT will drop around to $66,147 which be 10th richest state instead of 5th as current Massachusetts is slightly wealthier than us they are at number 4.

Without Fairfield County our average personal income will drop from $66,972 to $59,172 still 3rd highest in U.S.

Alot of CT towns have high incomes outside of Fairfield County with $85,000 median household or more. Woodbridge, Glastonbury, Roxbury, Bridgewater, Oxford, Chesire, Orange etc.

There are 41 towns outside of Fairfield County have average median household income of $85,000-$104,000 median income but richer FFC towns incomes are $140,000-$350,000

Most CT towns are well off but only 30 towns in state that is low income/lower middle class., other half is lower middle class/middle class, other is Upper Class/Rich.

18% of towns in state is low income/lower middle class
33% of towns in state is upper middle class/somewhat rich
48% if towns in state is middle class/average person/little pockets of wealth
