Westport..........2.4 million/2.1 million

I wanted to buy a house in Fairfield but I could not afford it so I ended up in Trumbull about 5/10 minutes away. But you can afford Fairfield. Fairfield is a great town in so many ways. I don't have the time to elaborate but I will later. So many people on here will tell you how great Fairfield is too.

I take the train into Manhattan from Fairfield so I elaborate on that too.
Yikes! Those prices look like only Wall St people can afford them.

That is why I am in Trumbull. We are the first town off I-95/Merritt Parkway NOT in the Gold Coast of Fairfield County.

Westport: Exit 41 & 42 off the Parkway
Fairfield: Exit 44 & 46 off the Parkway
Trumbull: Exit 47*, 48, 51 off the Parkway

House Price Average/Median
Larchmont........1 million/1.4 million
Fairfield............$965,000/$877,000
Westport...........2.4 million/2.1 million
Trumbull...........$554,000/$555,000 (Trumbull has very good schools)

*One side of the road off 47 is Fairfield and the other side is Trumbull.

This is to the OP. There is a historic section in Trumbull on the National Historic Register called Nichols. They have thier own association and there is Pinewood Lake there.

This is Nichols in Trumbull

That's still a very high figure. The only homes I see realistically priced are in high crime /urban decay areas like Bridgeport, Waterbury, or Hartford. Maybe on the outskirts in places like Manchester or Brooklyn.

What’s “realistically” these days?

The national median house price is $428,700.

Many towns in CT are at or below that figure.

Most* CT towns are below that figure. I don’t think people realize how affordable CT home prices actually are for what you get.

Not sure where the notion that Wilton doesn't have a walkable downtown comes from. It's certainly walkable (just ask the kids who walk over from the middle school each day). Whether its as "nice" as New Canaan, Westport or Ridgefield is a different question.

It’s not like a traditional town center. More of a walkable “lifestyle center” or strip mall area

What do they mean when they say "we want a walkable downtown"? I know about a decade or so ago millenials would go berserk over walkability scores and living close enough to downtowns so they could walk to stores and lunch. It was all the rage on the internets. Everyday you would see a top 10 list for walkabilty scores. People went crazy.
Do they still mean that or is it just be able to drive there then walk around? Are they just saying to the point where it's just a canned question now like going through the motions?

Very affordable compared to the glamour states and the Nobu-Crossfit metros but still more expensive than much of the south, midwest and flyovers.
