I'll be coming up into Connecticut by Metro North this week and wondering if there's anyplace or activity (I'm open to anything you can come up with a suggestion to) a walking distance from ANY Metro North stop.

I'll just read your suggestions as I'm only borrowing my brothers computer to post this and won't be able to respond further.

Thanks for your anticipated input

You have a few options.

First there is the Greenwich stop along Arch St. You would hop off the train and walk up to Greenwich Ave - it is fairly large. Located there are many expensive boutiques, fine dining and bar/grille restaurants. It's a great place to spend an afternoon or evening (without kids) if you have the money.

If you are looking for more nightlife, stay on until South Norwalk. There are plenty of bars with a great atmosphere, especially during happy hour and on Thurs-Fri-Sat nights. There is also the Maritime Aquarium downtown with an IMAX theater which can be fun.

You can also check out Stamford. You may have to hop in a cab to downtown, but there are a few places you may like.

Here are directions to the Maritime Aquarium from the train station:
Get off at the South Norwalk train station. To exit the station, walk down the driveway and turn right on to Monroe St. Proceed to the light and turn left on to South Main St. At the next light make a right on to Washington St. and proceed to the second light where you will turn left on to North Water St. The Maritime Aquarium is just in front of you.

Downtown Fairfield is a nice town to walk around. You can walk to the village green from the train station. Archie Moore's Restaurant is a block away from the train station and gets a decent after-work crowd if you want to get a feel for the area.

Welcome to Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant - Famous Wing Sauce
