What are the good restaurants in Chester? I know about the cute downtown but never ate at any restaurants there. Are there any special ones?

Interesting opinion! I always felt Clinton was worse to be honest. I'd probably take Westbrook over Darien and possible Stratford as well, although it would be a tough call; and I'd have to really think about it.

Very tough one for sure. I'm curious how this will turn out. My prediction is Middletown edges it, mainly due to the town being more well known by people, but it'll be interesting for sure.

I think I will probably take Bridgeport as well, but Lisbon is horrible? What is horrible about that town? It seems like just an average rural town to me. One of my best friends' lives there, and I never thought it was a horrible town at all.

Chester has Little House Brewery which is adorable and solid beer. On a nice day, sitting on the porch there is hard to beat.

We’ve had a killer brunch at Village Bistro.

OTTO and River Tavern are same owners and great food.

Honeycone has good homemade ice cream.

Simon Marketplace and Villager great casual takeout, sandwiches.

That’s what we’ve done so far. There’s other highly regarded spots.

Grano Orso is known as some of the best Italian in CT, I haven’t been. Haven’t been to Brushmill either which is high end and supposed to be good. Both on list to try.

The water activities at that amusement park are not to be overlooked!
Portland also has three great golf courses (Portland, Portland West and Quarry Ridge) and the beautiful St. Clement’s Castle & Marina banquet facility.

I agree with all of this. I haven't been to The Brushmill since it was The Chart House. Friends of ours love Grano, but we haven't been. Village Bistro is decent. We will need to try the brunch. We've discussed Otto before - I'm a big fan. River Tavern is excellent. We love the baguette from Simon's. Very good sandwiches.

Clinton has the Outlets, an underrated beach, a few decent restaurants, the best grocery store in the area, a brand new high school, and an excellent library. Westbrook has Cafe Routier (which has gone downhill) and a lot of marinas. There just isn't much in Westbrook.

Yeah, I think Middletown will win, but I gave Deep River some love. The town has come a long way.

Just not much there. Same with a lot of the towns in that part of the state. Not my cup of tea. Highly subjective.

Well, a close friend of mine who is part Filipino was consistently bullied and harassed for being Asian growing up there. So was her brother. She still has a bad attitude about the state as a whole based on her experience living in that part of the state. Take that aside, there's nothing there. I have to constantly remind her that Madison and Guilford are not Lisbon.

I will take a hard pass on most of the towns in Eastern CT, other than the coast towns.

Clinton also has Lobster Landing and Scottish Dave’s! And a decent little downtown. I only really know Westbrook for their large marina, and former outlets. And Water’s Edge hotel.
