Hello,

Would anyone know of a good, quiet place for a writer to live alone in an affordable house to rent or buy with wood trails nearby, and where people courteously keep to themselves while being pretty friendly? A good place to bike or commute by bike?--though not as important. Maybe with used book stores or libraries near enough around?

Thank you

The North East and North West corners are beautiful year round, but if you want to be closer to new york city, the naugatuck vally near Oxford and bethany is quiet and beautiful while still being close to large towns/amenities

Ridgefield, Danbury, Wilton. Nice places for quiet, tranquil, nature moments.

What exactly is your budget? That will help us narrow down your choices. Monroe, in Fairfield County, has biking trails, large wooded parks for hiking and camping, a used bookstore, and a new library. Most homes are on a minimum of one acre. But as previously stated, the NW and NE corners of Ct. are the quietest, most rural areas of the state, and generally less expensive than Fairfield County, especially the NE corner.

Sixty miles north of NYC surrounded by five square miles of NYC watershed property.

You might want to try Collinsville, it's a quaint little New England town with a beautiful part of the Farmington River, and has a "downtown" type of area. There are woods and historic cemetaries as well. It's not a very big town, it's actually a suburb of Canton but it's very peaceful and friendly.

My dad used to live in Monroe, I love that place, very green, woodsy feeling as you are driving around but not too far from things. Just can get bad fog due to its position in the valley, I remember one instance where the fog was bad, it had just snowed so you couldn't see the road to guide you, I ran off the road and hit a snowbank. I just remember some guy pulling over asking if he could do anything. I'm all "uh clear the fog".

Funny, that's what I was thinking. Southbury is exactly what you describe. Middlebury too.
