I was hoping that someone could give me some ideas about good places to move to. My husband and I are looking to move in July when our lease is up. We currently live in Orlando and we are both ready to get out of here. We are looking around the CT, MA, PA, NJ area. My family is in NY so we want to be closer and we miss the winters and changes of season. We are looking for a nice neighborhood but not extremely expensive. We love the outdoors and long drives. I have heard that CT is nice but we have never been there. Any information would be great about areas or websites that I can visit or pictures of areas I can view.

Thanks....

Connecticut is very nice. It is somewhat quiet though but close to major cities like New York or Boston. I would recommend living in the Hartford or New Haven areas. These are small cities with many nice suburbs and towns nearby. You do not give a lot of informaiton on what you like and dislike or if you need employment or not. That would help narrow down the choices. Jay

I'm a Letter Carrier in Newington where I lived for quite a few years, it's a nice town, nice homes in the Eddy Lane, Tremont Street, Hickory Hill, and Windmill street areas. Nice condos on Richard street, Coronado Place I think is the name. Best wishes with your move and G-D bless + + +

part of my family lives in Long Island and the rest in Buffalo. As for work i work in retail and my husband works in the warehouse industry. What type of taxes does CT have as in workers tax ect. Also I have heard that property tax is high is this true?
Thanks,
Meg

Cost of living in CT is less than Long Island, but more than Buffalo. It also depends on what part of CT you move to.

Property taxes are high, so is the income tax. And the weather sucks in the winter...are you nuts? Stay in Florida. Oh and theres the sales tax too...tax and snow..thats what Cts all about.

You might be surprised to find that our income tax is relatively low with respect to states that have income tax. Our sales tax, too, is moderate.

Since you think Florida is Paradise Earth (I actually gagged typing that), why don't you elaborate? Is it because you don't like snow and it rarely snows down there? Why do so many of them come back (the ones that don't die down there, that is)? Have you truly done a cost analysis showing that you'd "have a better life?"

For the record, we've had quite a few of these arguments (North Carolina or Florida is the bomb and Connecticut sucks). You're not 17, are you?

I agree. Quality of life goes far beyond warm weather and taxes. You have to like where you live. Florida is hot and over crowded. Its economy goes up and down and the pay is generally lower. Personally I do not see the difference between being stuck inside on a cold day or being stuck inside on a hot miserable day. In fact I find it easier to deal with the cold than the heat. JMHO, Jay

Florida's economy (construction industry among others) is suffering too as a result of the real estate bust.
