We're looking to buy a small condo in Hartford. We're somewhat familiar with the area, but are interested in safety. We're currently interested in a couple of properties at the Linden, and would be walking to Tower Square for work. Is this a pretty safe part of town?

Yes, it is safe. This area is sometimes called SoDo for south of Downtown. It is a very nice area with some nice restaurants and amenities like the library and the Wadsworth Anthenium. I think you will like it. Jay

To walk to Travelers/ Tower Square, you will need to live downtown or the near South End. Are you not going to have a car?

If a car is in the cards, it might be quieter to live in the West End. There are two condo complexes on Asylum Avenue: the old Goodwin Estate and the Allyn Estate. Both are on the 1200 block of west Asylum.

The OP mentions they are looking at property at the Linden....

To the OP - yes, this area is pretty safe and an easy walk to Travelers.

I think that the OP wants a small condo and those complexes have pretty large and pricey units. Jay

Default Thanks & update

We do have a car, but like the ability to walk to work and avoid the parking, traffic, etc. We don't need a huge place. We actually live in MA. He may be taking a job a Travelers while she keeps her job and stays in the MA house. Property values being what they are, we are considering getting a small condo in Hartford so he has the option of having a place to stay during the week, and we can stay at either place on the weekend. Strange times we live in, eh?

Is that pizza place that has the awesome middle eastern food still around? It was somewhere over near Pearl St., I think??? I forget the name......
