Hi- I've seen a few post about Bethel-- describing it as a small town with a nice downtown area. Can anyone say more about this? Does it have an old fashioned, quaint down town feel to it (small town main street USA)?
Not a lot of industry? Old, vintage homes? I did visit the town website, but there aren't a lot of pictures. How are the schools? Thanks!

I am a realtor in the Bethel area, so first of all I can't talk about the schools. Bethel does a nice downtown, with a mixer of older homes and newer constructed buildings that try to blend in with the older building. Some of the types f businesses downtown include an ice cream shop, CVS, lots of restaurants, as well as some professional buildings (attorneys, accountants, etc).

There is some industry in Bethel. In the southwest corner of town, there is a light industrail complex that has a good amount of woods and nature surrounding it. Scattered thorughout town, you can find a couple of small industrial buildings.

Bethel drivers are known for driving "Bethel nice". That means they stop for pedestrians, take turns at intersections, and otherwise don't drive in a road rage frame of mind.

Truly an up and coming area. Friendly people. Affordable. You will have to be selective when searching for housing. I'll be going to the Bethel Cinema Saturday with my wife and some friends after eating in the town center.
