Hello
I'm looking for some advice on areas in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Norwalk or anything you can suggest that are close to or not a very very long drive from either Sacred Heart or Fairfield Univeristy that are safe. Also areas that a two bedroom would run me from $1000-1300. Thanks.

Sacred Heart is in the northern part of Fairfield, right on the Bridgeport line.

The North End of Bridgeport is directly adjacent to the university. It is much cheaper than Fairfield. Norwalk is pretty far away, and it's west; it gets more expensive as you go west. I think the North End of Bridgeport is your best bet for the optimal combination of safe and inexpensive.

I agree with Dazzleman on that, though I will also add the Black Rock area of Bridgeport to it (mlassoff, who lives in that neighborhood, can probably give a lot more info). The rest of Bridgeport is pretty rough and somewhat run down looking. The part of Fairfield along US1 that is adjacent to Black Rock is cheaper than the rest of the town, though a little more costly. Norwalk is the most expensive of the 3; the neighborhoods get "nicer" the further north you go (though the northernmost parts up near the Merritt Pkwy are as expensive as the surrounding "elite" towns).

You might be able to find a 2 bedroom for around $1300 in Black Rock. As 7 Wishes mentioned I live there myself. It's a nice neighborhood with quite a bit going on. Nice park, great shore area (St. Mary's By the Sea). I would highly recommend you look West of Brewster Street (a definitely no further East than Ellsworth Avenue).

You will likely find the entire area convenient to the Fairfield amenities. Fairfield has almost everything you could possibly need. Good luck and let me know if you have specific questions about Black Rock.

Fairfield University is within 10 minutes and Sacred Heart within 15.

Black Rock is a great option, but it is further away from Sacred Heart, and more expensive, than the North End.

If you decide on the North End of Bridgeport, be sure to stay north of North Avenue (Route 1) and west of Main Street. Jay

Just wanted to expand on this a little. I would definitely avoid the area west of Main that is between North and Capitol. Also, the area east of Main becomes reasonably nice as you head north on Main past St. V's.

I don't agree. The area between North Avenue and Capitol is very nice. Nothing wrong with it IMHO. Also, the area east of Main Street north of St. Vincents gets a little dicey around Reservoir Avenue and the Beardsley apartments. Jay

Tom Thumb, Charles, Federal, Alice, Beers, etc. are not what i'd describe as being nice or safe.

Yeah, but I don't think they are real bad either. The streets west of Madison below Capitol are pretty nice. Jay
