I'm thinking about relocating to the CrossvilleTN area .What can you tell me about the area. I would like somewhere where it is forest and rolling hills with summers that are not too humid.Is there much shopping in Crossville or Cookeville.Also can you ride ATV'S on the country roads and in the woods.Are there casinos in TN.

Looking at Crossville's population, I would assume that there isn't much shopping there.
If you're flexible as to where you live, then Dyersburg would be a great place. It's on the bluff and if you want to go fourwheeler riding, then there's great trails along the bluff or around the Mississippii River. It's humid I guess during the summers, but pretty much everywhere in the south is humid. Depending on which areas you're at, it's incredibly hilly, or farmland on gentle hills. Once you get closer to the river, in the flood plains, it's all flat. Dyersburg has many great subdivisions, Lakewood(large lakes, heavly wooded), The Farms(upper-class golfing)...just to name a few.
Dyersburg has many retail stores for all your shopping needs also!

The Shopping in Crossvile, Tn
I live near Crossville, and have been there many times. There is lots of places to shop in crossville, and plenty of things to do. In fact it is growing quite rapidly with new businesses.
I wouldn't rule it out as a relocation prospect.

If you are black, don't move to Crossville, they don't allow black people there. Look it up. Same for two other places in TN. I live near there, a city 3xs the size, 3% of our population is black and they are segregated over to Bushtown. That should give you some idea of the small towns in TN.
btw........I'm not black but I have a gay black friend here which makes it doubly worse for him.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm living in Minnesota now and have about 5 years untill I retire. I don't want to stay in this cold after I retire.I also need to move somewhere the cost of living is cheaper. I can't belive how much cheaper the houses cost in TN and some of the other states.

Jillian,if you're not black then don't speak on it.
The only thing you said that might be CLOSE to the truth is the fact that 3% of COOKEVILLE'S population is black(yes, we know you're talking about Cookeville) but that's according to the 2000 census and I know for a fact that they didn't count many Tech students.It's a bigger % than that.Also the blacks aren't SEGREGATED to" Bushtown" at all. They live in all parts of town.Fact is there are as many whites living in "Bushtown" as blacks.
No there aren't MANY blacks in Crossville,but there ARE a few now.You look it up.
Different races get along great in Cookeville AND Crossville.Don't spread hate.

My husband did tree work in Crossville and thought it was gorgeous there. He said the people were friendly, and we even considered living there long ago. I agree that it is a lovely place.
