This thread is about the good acts that law enforcement does in the communities they serve. It is not a bash the police thread . If you feel the need to post controversial stories please continue to do so in another thread. This thread may contain stories of valor, sacrifice, and other positive aspects that close to six hundred thousand American police officers do to effect positive change in the communities we serve. Feel free to add to the thread..there are many CD posters who have officers that serve within their families or circle of friends and many more fellow citizens who have received good service that feel strongly that appropriate support for law enforcement is neccesary to a civil society. That support is earned through a tradition of service by preventing crime, protecting those who cannot protect themselves, and being an integral part of the communities in which we live.
Please stay on point. If you are unsure as to what a positive story is,or what the aspects of public service means, feel free to contact me for further help.
I don't think the op wants to go down the road of cops being injured or killed making them good, because some people will agree and the thread will be closed again.
Thank you
Police who are injured or killed performing service to their communities absolutely are "good" in the purest sense of the word. A paycheck doesn't build this... a commitment to a life of service and to the communities in which we live does.
Another upstanding Police officer, husband, and father shot in line of duty during a traffic stop.
This man was keeping his city of Mendota Heights safe when this happened.
Shortly after Officer Patrick can be seen walking up to the vehicle, Fitch then pulls out a handgun without even giving Patrick a chance to respond, and fired several rounds, prosecutors said.
decided not to press charges against the woman for attempting to steal the carton of eggs. Instead of arresting the woman, the officer paid for the eggs and gave her a hug
As the thread continues, remember to be respectful and post on topic. The topic is "Police that positively serve their communities " not "rant about how bad the cops are", in case there is any confusion. Also remember that if you cannot actually contribute to the discussion, you don't have to post!(shocking, I know!).
Yac.
There was another news story I came across that showed police going out and talking to homeless and mentally challenged citizens just to check up on them and getting to know them. I don't remember if it was local or where even I saw the story, but it's things like that that really show that the police care and aren't just enforcing the law for a paycheck. So many police officers these days don't even live in the communities they serve which creates a disconnection.
