Ahh yeah. He didn't care much for it when he got caught having an affair on his wife when a tabloid decided to do its own sting operation. It was even too much for the now thoroughly discredited NBC News organization who had to let him go.
the "To Catch a Predator" series is a successful one, and has been in reruns for a long time.
I can't imagine why Mr. Hansen would need to have extraordinary means to fund the project, you'd think he could just go to the bank and sign a note for this idea if he doesn't have the money already. Or just get a cable network hungry for programming to pony it up.
What happened between Hanson and his wife is their business. It had nothing to do with child perverts and it shouldn't have impacted TCAP. That program got tons of child predators off our streets, as well as inform us all of how huge the problem is. Teachers, pastors, coaches,,,you can't trust anybody anymore. I want TCAP to come back.
What about the effects of his affair on his own teenage children?
I hope you're not comparing the effects of a bunch of perverts trying to groom and sexually abuse underage children versus the private family issues of a guy who apparently has trouble keeping his dingy in his pants with other adult women.
This show had a ton of controversy after it's original run but I cannot recall exactly what that was
It seems so contrived and scripted it wouldn't surprise me if they are just framing people
But there was a ton of problems with it last time, partially the breaking of the law in the manner
it was handled. We have to ensure their rights are held up so ours will be too, that's just how it goes
And if caught red handed, then there should be no reason not to uphold their rights anyhow.
There should never be a reason to NOT uphold the law so people can keep their god given rights.
As for the premis of catching child molesters online that's something we need more of.
They faced some lawsuits, the biggest coming from the family of a prosecutor who ended up killing himself after being cornered while on the show. It came off more as entrapment than anything else, they basically harassed the guy and ended up going to his house after he cut off contact with the Perverted Justice alias. In the end, the guy was found to have been in possession of quite a bit of child pornography but NBC still ended up settling with his family.
Wow. When I'd watch TCAP, I'd always be especially disgusted by the teachers, etc... Some of these sickos spend a good amount of time around kids. Gross!
Teachers, police officers and other law enforcement officers who are snagged on sting operations on that show upset/disgust me equally.

I agree. There's something that's not quite adding up. This show would be a huge money maker for any network. My guess, though, is that by trying to go the kickstart/online show route, Hansen wants near total control, creative and otherwise, over the show and doesn't want to be "owned" by any network or terms. Hell, the show would make its money back just by running adds on Youtube. That doesn't exactly explain the lack of initiative to get a bank note, though.
Perhaps the legal terms of various networks are fearful of potential legal hiccups involved with the show (i.e. entrapment arguments). I don't know.
