It's no at all surprising that people who feel they've been treated unfairly by the system engage in protest. Nor is it surprising that a portion of those protesters will resort to looting and violence.

Anti-migrant riots in Moscow in 2013:

Anti-China riots in Hanoi in 2014:

It's part of the human condition. There is little value in complaining about any such events unless we are also willing to address the underlying social and political causes.

Sadly it seems you are correct. Though I cannot get over the total lack of response from the PD. I guess you're damned if you do and damned if you don't but wouldn't one think law enforcement should errr on the side of do???

You have a mayor that publicly said she told the police to stand down. She said that was to protect the police from "cars and other things going on". Couldn't even bring herself to say the word RIOT.
And then go on to say she wanted to give those that wanted to destroy some space.

She condoned the rioting and basically told those folks..go ahead and destroy stuff. We won't come after you.

Just saw about 100 looters go into a check cashing place, where's Frank Rizzo or Wilson Goode when you need them, one bomb would of gotten control of the scene.

The mayor had the police stand down.

She didn't want them to get hit by cars...oh and "other things going on"

What happened to peaceful protesting? This is turning really ugly really fast.

Yep, I guess you're right. Funny comment just on, the cops were loading up into vans and informed the reporter that they felt it was "safe" enough to roll out and do THEIR JOB by going to the looters location. He then went on to say they've been in a "defensive" position until just now.
Who's the ones with armored cars, guns, pepper spray, bean bag guns etc. etc. etc????
